Materials Most Suitable for CrN‑Coated Spiral Point Taps
CrN‑coated spiral point taps (gun taps) feature low friction, excellent anti‑welding performance, high corrosion resistance and good thermal stability. They are particularly suitable for threading non‑ferrous metals and sticky materials.
1. Aluminum Alloys
Pure aluminum, 6061, 6063, 5052, ADC12 die-cast aluminum and other aluminum alloys
2. Copper & Copper Alloys
Brass, bronze, beryllium copper, phosphor bronze, pure copper
3. Titanium Alloys
TC4, Ti‑6Al‑4V and other titanium alloys for aerospace and medical applications
4. Magnesium Alloys
Magnesium alloy die castings and lightweight structural parts
5. Zinc Alloys
Zinc die castings, hardware fittings and decorative parts
6. Free-Cutting Stainless Steel
Free-cutting stainless steel such as 303 (not recommended for 304/316 stainless steel)
7. Plastics & Composite Materials
ABS, PA, POM, nylon, glass fiber reinforced plastics and other non-metallic materials
